![]() ![]() On Dell laptops we could to a certain extent work around the problem by replacing the driver for the ACPI Lid in device manager with driver for Microsoft Volume Manager, but this hack does not work on our HP Laptops typically in the Elitebook series. And please do not refer to the "Do nothing" setting in the power management in windows for "when I close the Lid", this setting really does nothing to help the situation in these magnetic fields. ![]() Will need a way to disable or physically remove the lid switch from a laptop, or a suggestion to a normal business laptop that have a setting in bios for disabling the lid switch. It is impossible to operate a laptop in these fields because the lid switch will be tripped by the magnetic fields and will turn off the screen. Even walking with steel tipped shoes can be a bit tricky, because the steel tips of the shoes are caught by the magnetic field, it feels almost like tripping on something. ![]() ![]() I am talking about conductors transporting hundreds of Kilo Amperes causing very strong magnetic fields. I work on a production plant where I often have to work in an environment with heavy magnetic fields from large electricity conductors. ![]()
